Developing Games

I just finished up setting up WordPress here in preparation for my next game.  Fortune Hunter: Wrath of Anubis will include a level editor and I hope the community will create levels for a possible sequel.  WordPress will hopefully be an easy way to submit levels to me.

Anyways, I figured I’d post something about designing games to fill some space on the new ssite!

The largest section in game development is, in my opinion, the creative “brain-storming” process.  I spend so much time playing other games on the internet.  I think about how I would improve on the concept, how I could innovate, would I be able to easily develop this new concept, and would anyone play it.  A lot times, I code a concept demo (including horrible graphics) demonstrating the basics I am envisioning.  However, the majority of these never see the light of day.  Instead of writing more about this, I’ve included some images of my failed creations.  Enjoy!

Recognize these guys from Tankmen? I started creating a side-scroller shooter based on these characters that was sadly never finished.  Art by Benedikt.

I started coding a battle sequence for an RPG game.  The one thing I hated about traditional RPGs was the turn based battle, so I coded a system with a more fluidic approach. Art by Tim.

Here’s an image of a multiplayer top-down shooter.  It’s hard controlling all three soldiers at once and the cockroaches killed all my guys.  Art by me!

Feel free to comment on this or any of my games.  Enjoy!
